FOOTPRINTS

One night a man had a dream.

He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that this happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way.

But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.

I don’t understand why, when I needed you most, you would leave me.”

The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.

During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

Mary Stevenson.

**********************************************

For everything there is a season,

And a time for every matter under heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die;

A time to plat, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal;

A time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to seek, and a time to lose;

A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

A time to tear, and a time to sew;

A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate,

A time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

I know these are well known items, but I feel it does not hurt us to reflect on them sometimes. Wishing everyone a happy day, with lots of love and peace.

I am very disappointed in the set up of my recent posts. I have typed them up with spaces between
appropriate places and making them much easier to read than the
set up which all runs into each other. I apologise, but do not know why this happens. Maybe Peter will have some clues when he is here next week. Merle.

Yeah we should be able to fix them up Merle, in the meantime when you have a post ready to publish,BEFORE you publish it go to Preview, what you see there is assualy very similar to how the post will appear, if you correct lines that have merged together there the post should come out OK.
See ya soon.

I have always loved that passage. My whole basis for "there's a reason and time for everything." Thank you for adding something special to my day :-)

Have a great day!

Yes, a time for everything - but things get all clogged up when we try to rush the time - been there, done that. ec

Merle, I have loved that Footprints piece for many, many years. I have a plaque of it in my bedroom and a small bookmark on my refrigerator. It's a beautiful reminder that he's with us always, isn't it?

Hi from NY!
We have "Footprints" hanging in our bedroom written on a picture of our family walking along the beach. It was also read as part of our wedding ceremony.

Thanks for stopping my my site!
