Goulburn Valley.

“Goulburn Valley shares it’s bounty.” This is the headline in my

local Shepparton Newspaper today. Makes me quite proud to live here.

Every year the Shepparton, Ardmona Cannery gives away a heap of food to worthy recipients.

The fruit and vegetables are donated by the growers and the work time is donated by the workers at the cannery. It is called “Share a can” day.

The managing director paid tribute to the hundreds of workers

who contributed their time and effort. He said some of them

came off the night shift, have a quick shower and get stuck

right back on the production line. Also some retirees have

returned to help. This is the 10th year of Share a Can day.

Last year they donated to drought stricken farmers, and

This year a truck carrying 52,000 cans of Baked Beans, Peaches, Pears, spaghetti, tomatos and

two fruits, made into 4352 family hampers was sent to North Queensland for the

victims of Cyclone Larry at Innisfail.

Isn’t it great that there are still good people around this

wonderful world of ours? Too often we only hear the bad news.

Well, off the soap box now and find a joke!!

Joke of the day…….

The Grand Prix was in full swing, the cars hurtling round the

track at death defying speeds.

The German driver pulled in, and his pit crew had his car

finished and on the track in eight seconds.

The Italian driver came in, and his pit crew changed his tyres,

refuelled the car and repaired his front wing all in 11 seconds.

The Aussie car came in.

The pit crew told him to bring it back in on Thursday, and leave

the keys and they’d call him with a quote.

Why? Why? Why?

Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?

Why can’t women put on mascara with their mouths closed?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Why don’t you ever see the headline “Psychic Wins Lottery?”

Why is “abbreviated” such a long word?

Why is a boxing ring square?

Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips?

Why is it necessry to nail down the lid of a coffin?

Why is it that doctors call what they do “practice”?

Why is it that rain drops but snow falls?

Can fat people go skinny dipping?

Why is it that when you are driving and looking for an address,

you turn down the radio?

Why is the word “dictionary” in the dictionary?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called

rush hour?

You know that little indestructible black box that is used on

planes, why can’t they make the whole plane out of the same

substance?

And why do we drive on a parkway but park in a driveway?

Our church has a food bank with once a month distribution. There is so much need here.

When all else fails and you can't get on line. You call your provider to hear: please hold or you can visit us on the web at www.toostupid.com. I can't get on the web you moron. Why? do they do that?

this coming sunday I'm cooking at the shelter. Making omlettes for all who come. I can make them real fast as long as the ingrediants are prepared.

There are always good deeds happening, they just don't make the headlines often enough.

I actually commented in your previous post, but thought I'd mention it here too.

Have you changed your e-mail address? I sent something to you, but it came back "address unknown."

If you've changed something Merle, please give me your new address. Thanks so much.

Oh, Merle, that is a wonderful story, so giving. Such a blessing to so many, and to us who read it.
