72 Today.

72 Today. Well here I am at this age and if I’d known

how long I would live, I would have taken better care

of myself. It has been a lovely day and I have enjoyed it.

.

I have had an enjoyable day, with several phone calls,

and cards, and quite a lot of Happy Birthdays from my

blogging friends. I thank you all.

I have spent quite a bit of the day at my laptop answering

them and reading lots of blogs.

John and I went out for our evening meal and on the way he

posted a small gift to my cousin’s son and daughter-in-law

who had a baby girl today. So I am not likely to forget the

birthday of Amy May O’Brien.

<><><><><><><> Another year <><><><><> Birthday Poem <><>

I never thought I would live this long,………

Another year has gone by

it was not an easy one by any means,

but I made it through to celebrate

my birthday today.

<><><><>

Sometimes when things got rough

I felt just like dying, but I didn’t die

Somehow I got by.

<><><><><>

Reflecting back, it was you and my

blogging friends that helped me make it.

<><><><>

Although I know not what tomorrow may bring

With you and God’s help I can survive

another year or two.

<><><><><><><> Author unknown. I substituted the

“blogging friends” in place of “ my furry friends”. <><><><

<><><><><><><><> And a Joke. <><><><><>

A doctor who had been seeing an 80 year old woman for

most of her life, finally retired.

At her next check-up, the new doctor told the woman to

bring a list of all the medicines that had been prescribed

for her.

<><><><><>

As the young doctor was looking through these, his eyes

grew wide as he realised she had a prescription for birth

control pills.

“Mrs Smith, do you realise these are birth control pills?”

“yes”, she replied, “they help me sleep at night.”

<><><><><>

“Mrs Smith, I assure you there is nothing in these that

could possibly help you sleep.”

She reached out and patted the young doctor’s knee.

<><><><><>

“Yes, dear, I know that. But every morning, I grind

one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that my

16 year old grand-daughter drinks…… and believe me,

it helps me sleep at night.”

<><><><><><> A few words of wisdom. <><><><><><>

The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse

gets the cheese.

<><><><><>

How do you tell when you run out of invisible ink?

<><><><><>

When everything’s coming your way, you’re in the

wrong lane.

<><><><><>

Any people quit looking for work when they find a job.

<><><><><>

I intend to live forever – so far, so good.

<><><><><>

I couldn’t repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

<><><><><>

Why do psychics have to ask you for your name?

<><><><><><>

Experience is something you don’t get until just after you

need it. <><><> Goodnight and/or Good morning all <><><><><>

<><><><><><><>

Funny as usual, Merle.

I say the best birth control is an orange - tucked firmly between the knees. We're on the same wave length.

Glad your birthday was a success. I'll try to get over to Peter's blog but if I don't, Peter, I know you're here all the time. Happy Birthday.

I'm so glad you had a lovely day. And the weather was nice, specially for you.
I love the joke about the doctor and the contraceptive pills ... it was in the Herald Sun a couple of days ago, and I was going to tear it out and post it myself ... great minds think alike.
Thank you for all the fun and thoughtful things you always post. It is a joy to visit your blog.
Take care, Meow

Hi Merle, I have already posted a long, (and interesting) comment here but blogger has eaten it.
Glad to hear your birthday was a good one, say hi to Geoff and Joanne for me.
I'll be at Warrens for the next 2 nights, then we are all (Vicki, Zac & Self) going to Noosa for a few days, don't know what the net situation will be there so may be off the air, (even for my birthday) we'll see.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY & much more:

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.
