FIVE MINUTES MORE
FIVE MINUTES MORE At the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground. “That’s my son over there,” she said pointing to a little boy in a red sweater playing on the slide. “He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my son on the swing in the green sweater.” Then glancing at his watch, he called out to his son, “What do you say we go Todd?” Todd pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.” The man nodded and Todd continued to swing to his heart’s content. Several minutes passed, and the father stood and called again to his son. “Time to go now?” Again Todd pleaded, “ Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.” The man smiled and said “ Okay.” “My, you are certainly a patient father” the woman said. The man smiled and then said, “Last year, my older son, Tommy, was riding his bike near here and was killed by a drunk driver. I never spent enough time with Tommy, and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Todd.” “He thinks he gets five more minutes to play on the swinga. The truth is….I get five more minutes to watch him play.” Author unknown. THE MAGIC OF LOVE Love is like magic and it always will be, For love still remains life’s sweet mystery. Love works in ways that are wondrous and strange And there’s nothing in life that love cannot change! Love can transform the most commonplace Into beauty and splendor and sweetness and grace. Love is unselfish, understanding and kind, For it sees with it’s heart and not with it’s mind. Love is the answer that everyone seeks…. Love is the language that every heart speaks. Love can’t be bought, it is priceless and free, Love, like pure magic, is life’s mystery. Helen Steiner Rice. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller.
