If I Knew

Hello Friends ~~ Just a brief post tonight as I am struggling to stay awake. with no real excuse!

Today the 23 rd July is the 35th Anniversary of Lucy Stern and her husband. Congratulations to you both, that is a great effort, and I hope you have many more years together.

<><><><> A little Poem called "If I Knew. <><><><>

If I knew that a word of mine,

A word not kind or true,

Might leave it's trace on a loved one's face,

I wouldn't speak harshly, would you ?

If I knew that the light of a smile

Might linger the whole day through,

And lighten some heart with a heavier part, I wouldn't withhold it, would you ?

<><><> And a joke. <><><>

A passenger in a taxi tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him something. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus, drove over the curb, and stopped just inches from a plate glass window.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, then the driver said, "Please don't ever do that again. You scared the daylights out of me."

The passenger who was also frightened, apologized and said he didn't realize that a tap on the shoulder could frighten him so much, to which the driver replied.

"I'm sorry, it's not really your fault at all. Today is my first day driving a cab. I have been driving a hearse for the last 25 years.

<><><> Take care, see you tomorrow, Merle. <><><>

Hi, Merle. I saw your comment on Booklogged's blog. You look so much like my grandmother. That is a compliment as she was a great woman. I liked your poem. I have challenged readers on my blog to find a birthday poem and I am looking also. I've only read a few of your postings and have enjoyed them. I will have to visit again.

Hi Merle, I just spent 3/4 of an hour editing your post and couldn't get it any better, it must be something messed up in your template, I'll redo it tomorrow and see if that makes any difference.

Hi again Merle,

Well, you can still read it- gosh, you must get awfully tired with all that writing anyway! Love that hearse joke:) Thank you for your efforts, & hope the birthday & anniversary dates were a lot of fun, too:)
