Grandpas.

Today is Friday here in Australia, so our weekend is near.

I hope you all have a great weekend when it gets to you.

John rang from Mildura about lunch-time. It is about six

hours north of Shepparton and is close to the borders of

both South Australia and New South Wales. I hope he is

able to keep warm tonight in a small tent and inside a swag.

Which is probably called a Bed roll ?

<><><><><>

His daughter Bec rang him for his birthday and was barely

able to speak. She has a throat infection, very sore, and she

can’t speak at all . She is on medication from Doctor, so hope

she will soon feel better. Thinking about you Bec.!!

<><><><><>

We have a long weekend, with Monday being the day we honor

the Queen’s birthday ( She was 80 in April) but it suits to

have it celebrated in June. I do not know why. Perhaps to

spread the holidays, as Easter is late March or April.

<><><><><><>

Tonight we begin with a Grandpa Poem. Fair’s fair after all.

WALKING WITH GRANDPA.

I like to walk with Grandpa,

His steps are short like mine.

He doesn’t sau “Now Hurry Up”

He always takes his time,

<><><><><>

I like to walk with Grandpa,

His eyes see things like mine do –

Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud.

Half hdden drops of dew.

<><><><><><>

Most people have to hurry,

They don’t stop and see.

I’m glad that God made Grandpa,

Unrushed, and young like me. Poem by Thena Smith.

<><><><><><><> Joke of the Day ~ not very nice <><><><><><>

A homeless man knocks on the door and when the lady answers

he says: “Lady, I haven’t eaten for days. Could you spare a bite

to eat?”

She said: “You poor man, would you like some of yesterday’s soup?” “you bet I would,” he said.

“Fine,” she said, “come back tomorrow.”

<><><><><> I did warn that it was not very nice. <><><><><>

Now for a riddle ~~ Not very easy (in my opinion) Now I guess

you will all find it very simple!! Oh Well. <><><><>

The Riddle.

Seven letters are we,

Three different words we make,

Guess us or be ridiculed;

Your reputation’s at stake.

<><><><><>

The first has pictures,

Paintings and such,

The second causes sneezing,

from ragwood or dust

<><><><><>

The third is an adverb,

It’s hard to explain,

It’s the same as immensely

But it’s much more plain.

<><><><><>

These clues are sparse

This riddle may be tough.

But if you’re smart

Then it will be enough.

<><><><><><> Answers in Comments. Bye for now. <><><><><>

Hi All ~~ The answer to the Riddle....

Gallery, Allergy and Largely.

A gallery has pictures and paintings.
Allergies make you sneeze.
Largely is somewhat difficult to describe.~ It certainly is a synonym
for immensely.

Hope it was fun for you, Merle.

Swag = bedroll.

Once a jolly swagman, etc.

Enjoy your weekend if I don't talk to you before.

I like your Grandpa poem best. My little grandson loves to walk with Grandpa. They take the puppy for a walk and look at the stars, airplanes, street lights and the "dinasour bones". JJ sings the song, "We are the dinasours" as he marches along. They make a great pair.

Hi Merle, great post again.

Hope you enjoy tonight's travells. I didn't keep such a comprehensive journal on that trip, so there are lots that I will miss.

hugs jacqui

I have a sneaking suspicion that the list of words with two meanings was written by a woman. lol.

I really enjoy checking in on your blog. We both visit with Somershade- l like her sense of humour, as l do yours!
Love your take on different meanings of words.
Here’s some more miscellany:
KILT: A costume sometimes worn by Scotsmen in America and Americans in Scotland.
and
BAROMETER: An ingenious instrument which indicates what kind of weather we are having.
Hope your weather is decent
Bests,
Horizon

Looks like Aussie men are the same as American men which means women the world over need to stick together!

Love your blog and am adding you to my blogroll. :)

oh dear... yo mean it doesn't stop?

My son Craig was also born when I was 20, so we share the Big Birthdays and I never get sympathy from him... it's hard to pretend you are not 60 when you have a 6ft 3in son who is 40... not that you'd want to, of course...

Hi, liked the double meaning of words - so true - now if we could all just remember that men and women take things differently things would go better.
